How to Use the New Instructor Dashboard
Welcome to the new Instructor Dashboard! The instructor dashboard is a way for you to easily track the progress of collective classes, sections and individual students all at once! Not only is the instructor dashboard an innovative way to improve student progress, but it is also the most user-friendly way to keep track of said progress throughout your courses!
To access the instructor dashboard, locate the tab on the left-hand side of the page under “Home”.
The instructor dashboard, by default, will open to an entire class overview. It will show you statistics of progress on a “student average” scale. You can switch this to show your averages for individual sections by changing the section as seen in the screenshot below, located above “At Risk Students”.
The above image shows you where to select your class sections from if you would like to view the dashboard by section, rather than your classes as a whole.
Below the section selection option, students who are considered “at risk” will be shown. These students are struggling to complete assignments, garnering low scores, and are at risk of failing the course.
Below your at risk students, you will see an overview of your class averages. This area will change if you have selected a specific section, however, will show an overall average of all classes if you have not selected a specific section.
Below your class overview, you will be able to select each student by name to view their class progress.
Selecting to view a student’s class progress will bring you to their progress report screen. From here, you can see their grade, missing and late assignments, compare their activity with the rest of the class, days since last login, percentage of the course completed, time spent in the course, click history and assignment history. This is a very powerful tool to assist you in seeing if and where a student is struggling.
To return to the previous page, at any time, click the “Home” button within the Instructor Dashboard itself, as seen in the image above.
From the home screen of the dashboard, you can also message students! Students can be messaged individually, or, you can message students with a C in the class, below a C in the class, or at risk students only. You can message these students by selecting “Message Students” located on the top-right corner of the instructor dashboard homepage.
