These instructions are for setting up a link from your D2L course to your course. You will need to request a Key and Secret if you have not already been provided one by your Perceivant Administrator.
First, you will need to log into your D2L account using your school's login URL
Select Course
Once logged in, it will redirect you to the main dashboard and available courses. Select the Course (and section) that will include the link to the corresponding Course/Section. This will take you to the Course Home.
Edit Course
Click on Course Admin on the right.
External Learning Tools
Click on External Learning Tools.
You will see options for Managing the Tools, please make sure to select MANAGE EXTERNAL LEARNING TOOL LINKS, before clicking on New Link.
Click on the New Link button
Go to the Manage External Learning Tool Links tab and click on New Link. If you see a message about Deployment, you are not on the correct tab. Make sure to be on the Manage External Learning Tool links tab.
Complete Information
Insert the Title, URL (provided by Perceivant), and a brief Course Description.
Under Visibility, check "Allow users to view this link." In the Key/Secret section, select "Sign Messages with key/secret with" and "Link Key/Secret." Insert the Key and Secret provided by Perceivant. Insert the Key and Secret provided by Perceivant. If you have not received the Key and Secret, reach out to help@perceivant.com
Security Settings
For the Security Settings, select "Use Link Security Settings." Then, checkmark each option below "Use Link Security Settings" as seen in the screenshot above.
"Make link available to" should populate and be defaulted to checked.
View in List
After completing the setup, click Save and Close. This will save your External Tool and return you to the External Tool list with the newly created tool at the bottom.
Return to Course Section Area
Click Content to add the tool to your course.
Add External Learning Tool to Section
Navigate to the place that you would like to add the link for the students to access and click "Existing Activities." If you do not see this option, you will need to add a Module first on the left-hand side of the screen.
From the "Existing Activities" dropdown, click External Learning Tools. In the pop-up, select the link that you created for the section earlier. It will be listed by the Title that you gave it. This will add the link to the course.
Finalize Set-Up
Click the little arrow next to the link and select Edit Properties In-Place.
Make sure to check the box for Open as External Resource (Link will not work otherwise). Click browser refresh to save.
To test that the setup worked correctly, click the link that is created. A new window should open and the correct Course/Section within the platform should open. As an instructor, you will be taken directly to main course view. For students, the first time they click the link, they will be taken to the enrollment page. After they have enrolled, they will be taken directly to the main course view every time. The students will only be able to enroll in the course material via the link in D2L.
